Across Phoenix is an indie rock band out of New Orleans, writing jangle pop that lets all of its charming, bright little noises fall like crunchy rainbow glass through their fingers into an unexpected and spacy groove.
Founded in August 2024, the band began as a duo between Emma Lee on guitar and vocals, and Evan Michell on drums, later adding Molly Thornton on bass.
As a trio, they’re eclectic and delicate and hard to pin down. They're hiding funky glittery things for you to find between layers of storm-cloudy shoegaze sound: something like Portishead, Wolf Alice, PJ Harvey and Warpaint, like crawling up the stairs to find a cluster of painted stars spinning on the fuzzy carpet of your bedroom.
They haven’t stopped moving forward since their debut in 2025, skipping like a tiny comet between packed bars and major festivals in and out of NOLA: Saturn Bar, Gasa Gasa, Funk Fest, Algiers Bonfire Fest, Pom Pom Palooza Fest. Their debut EP, written and produced by Lee with recording and co-production from Michell, was spotlighted in Antigravity Magazine’s October 2025 issue. A second EP is currently in the works, with prospective release set in late February/March.
Put on a blindfold and let them make your world seem so, so small, (or maybe you got really really reeeeally big). Suddenly, you’re balancing on the earth like a little blue ball, doing dizzy dances while their opalescent dreams whirl around your head.
